Sleuth Wood, September 2018. With many thanks and kudos to Dusty Brown.

Welcome to Sleuth Wood

Sleuth Wood is situated in the beautiful rolling and wooded countryside of Washington, Texas about 60 miles northwest of downtown Houston and 15 miles from cities of Brenham and Navasota.  Although we have no ambition to be a large, busy equestrian facility we do offer horse boarding facilities for a few boarders, schooling arenas and jumps and have an expert trainer/coach who calls Sleuth Wood her base.  Sleuth Wood probably best suits equestrians who want their horses to enjoy safe facilities and pleasant pastures and prefer a friendly environment with just a few people and horses around.

We have two arenas, both uncovered, one is flood lit, and a boarded round pen for those who want to school and train.  We trail ride around the property through the woods and pastures and hack up the road for those wanting a walk/trot work out.  We offer both pasture boarding and full boarding.  We also have a cross-country schooling park which together with the arenas is available to haul-ins. We welcome day haul ins to school/train and host a few clinics and schooling days a few times a year.

Our team has many years equine and general ranch experience to look after our horses and the place.  The owners live on the ranch, and we make sure that there is always someone on site, 24/7.

Board

We have space and facility for about a dozen horses as full time boarders. We have an 8 stall main barn and a small 2 horse barn at the entrance side of the property. Well grassed pastures are available for turn out.

Care

Adella Russell is Sleuth Wood’s Barn Manager. Adella has been around horses since she was eight, and brings 15+ years experiences in equine care and a CHA certificate in Equine Facility Management. She's a jack of most trades on the farm and master than more than a few and will help further raise our standards of care and management.

School

We have two arenas, one smaller sand arena that is floodlit and a larger show jumping ring. Our cross-country schooling park covers about 20 acres and has a mixture of jumps including water, ditches and a bank with multiple heights. We have clinics and open schooling days, and weather permitting the facility is open to haul in riders and trainers.
